Family Tree Snippets of Information

This is where I shall put odd random bits about the Hindmarsh family until I have worked out where they go on the website.

  • Percy House - Book, The History of the Borough - History of Alnwick p.406

    A quote from this book;
    "Hindmarsh is one of the few old families still having representatives in Alnwick. With us the name first appears as HYNDMERS in 1843 and HIMERS in 1633; but according to Brockie - "it was originally HYMNER and HYMNERS and subsequently genteelified into HINDMARSH". Percival HYMNERS was owner of a burgage in Clayport in 1633; and his son, Luke HIMERS, was admitted to the Tanners' Company on October 3rd 1676." (a long line of tanners in Alnwick including a William Hindmarsh)
